Multi-Edit 2008 Limited Time Upgrade Offer

With the release of Multi-Edit 2008, users of Multi-Edit 9.0 will no longer have a valid upgrade path due to the age of the release. To allow our Multi-Edit 9.0 users to take full advantage of our current upgrade options, we will be allowing upgrade purchases for Multi-Edit 9.0 licenses for the next 11 days.

Those of you who currently own a Multi-Edit 9.0 license and choose not to take advantage of this limited time offer, an upgrade option will no longer exist after July 25th, 2008. You will however continue to receive product support from our staff via our support forums, and update files will remain available on our server for all prior releases of Multi-Edit.

Be sure to take advantage of this limited time offer as this upgrade offer will not be extended.

News from Dan Hughes

file documents image Multi-Edit 2008 Feature/Release list

- Dan Hughes

It's been some time since my last article for The Developer News. I've been locked down tracking and resolving any and all issues that our Beta and RC users have reported. Thanks to each of you for your participation, and your patience, in helping us make it to the GOLD release of Multi-Edit. We wouldn't be able to release a stable product without your assistance.

I've been working quite hard to get in as many user requested features as possible along with all the necessary fixes that have been brought to our attention. Unfortunately as with every major and minor release, we aren't able to include all requested changes or features due to priorities and time constraints. We have however added a number of features to this build in the form of features and internal improvements and preparation for future builds. I've provided a link below to our Readme.txt file, which notes all changes to the 2008 builds.

Addressing our progress on implementing UNICODE support in Multi-Edit.

This is the project we've been working towards completing for some time. And in order for us to provide full-unadulterated Unicode support, Multi-Edit's kernel source needed to be rewritten and we had to embark on the heady task of making some modifications to the CMac language. We're making solid progress, and, having seen the light at the end of the tunnel; we hope support will be provided in the next version. Sadly we have to note that there is an extremely low probability that this support will make it into the ME2008 build. Our apologies for not making this release deadline. We will be noting our progress towards this project often as it is our highest priority.

In closing, please remember that your opinions do matter to us and are always heard whether posted on our forums, sent via emails or just a phone call to our customer service or support departments. We at Multi Edit Software strive to not only listen to our users, but to provide the support they seek. Please take a moment to visit our support forums and let us know what changes, enhancements or feature requests you'd like to see, or just take a moment to give us your comments on Multi-Edit.

Until the next Newsletter...
Happy Coding!

David Deley We'll Miss You

website placement image

For many years now David Deley has assisted numerous Multi-Edit users and the development staff with questions, macros, development and more. Today we find ourselves giving a heartfelt goodbye to David as he attends to other important things in his life. Although David will no longer be working for MESi, we do hope to see him online now and then to assist.

We at MESi would like to wish David all the best of luck!

Customer Service

file documents image Is your Multi-Edit installation up to date?

- Michele Hegwood

Checking to see if you are updated to the current release generally yields the solution to a majority of support and customer service questions we receive.

Why does my Help | About -> say it expires on 1/1/2009?
Doesn't my purchase buy me a permanent license?

If you are an early purchaser of Multi-Edit 2008, you will notice that in your Help | About menu option there is an expiration date listed of 1/1/2009. Simply put you have a 'Release Candidate' build, meaning that it is release stable, but not feature complete. Due to this, we made sure to include an expiration date to help ensure users are 'prompted' to upgrade to the latest release of Multi-Edit. This does not mean however that your ME2k8 license will expire, only the 'Release Candidate' install itself. Please note it is only the 'Release Candidate' version that carries this expiration date policy.

Before reporting a problem or contacting customer service, you should take a moment to check the Help | About dialog to verify your current release. This is especially important to our Multi-Edit 2008 users, as we are now at the Gold release, and have a new patch available, which should be downloaded and installed immediately. This patch release will remove the expiration date from the Release Candidate builds, and contains many necessary updates. With each patch release, MESi introduces many fixes, customer feature requests, and sometimes alter functionality of a feature based on user feedback.

To upgrade to the Gold release of Multi-Edit 2008, simply click the Help | Check for Upgrade menu option, and select to download the latest referenced build available to you based on the version you have installed.

You may also click one of the links provided below which will allow for a full installation of the latest build. (Note: You will need your serial number and release code. If you do not have this, please send your request along with your registration information to sales@multieditsoftware.com.

Have you registered your Multi-Edit license?

Please take a moment to register your product. Customer service and support needs frequently require us to locate your purchase information and product license numbers. If you purchased through a reseller, it is unlikely we will have your information in our system, and if you lose your license, we will have no record of your ownership. Registration is brief and will save you time when you require assistance.

You will be prompted for registration upon completion of your installation or patch release. If you have already registered this license, it is not necessary to register again.

You may also register online by visiting
