Here is a synopsis of the features that are new to Multi-Edit 7.0 MS Windows interface - Cut and paste directly to and from the Windows clipboard. File compare - interactive, synchronized file compare. You can even edit the files being compared without loosing synch. Hex editing - Edit binary or text files in hex mode Session Manager - Pop up a list of all your Multi-Edit sessions. Select one, and Multi-Edit puts you in the appropriate directory and restores the session just like you left it. The restore feature itself has been improved. It no longer leaves status files in each directory, yet maintains it's directory-specific information. You may also now configure restore to use a single, global status file, and you may configure the status file path. Multi-Tags - Our source-code locator and browser package has been updated and integrated into Multi-Edit Professional. It scans your source code and builds databases of functions, structures and objects (depending on the language). Allows you to instantly locate and browse any supported tag. Improved search - Regular expressions may now span lines, and we've given you the option of Unix-style regular expressions. Regular expressions may now be used in the on-line help. Major macro language improvements - C-style parameter passing and return values including reference and optional parameters; Improved global variables; Function prototyping; Conditional compilation; .MAP files are now consolidated; Improved DOS environment handling; switch/case now works with strings; CMAC macro compiler is now 2-3 times as fast. 386 specific version - Multi-Edit now comes with ME386.EXE, an 80386 (or greater) specific version of Multi-Edit that improves performance. Improved syntax highlighting - Supports a wider range of styles and keywords. Now highlights numeric constants Misc - Multi-Edit now supports the ASCII 255 character. Sorting is now 2 to 1000 times faster. Configurable inclusive or exclusive stream blocks. Leave cursor at beginning or end of pasted text. DOSPROMP.BAT is gone.
